Championship leader Buemi DSQ from Berlin ePrix

Current Formula E championship leader Sebastien Buemi has been disqualified from the first of two races in Berlin due to illegal tyre pressures.

The Frenchman recovered from a dismal 14th in qualifying, to finish in sixth place – which became fifth – following fellow countryman Jean-Eric Vergne’s time penalty for an unsafe release.

Buemi was found to have breached Article 25.11 of Formula E’s sporting regulations as all four of his tyres on both his cars were under the minimum tyre pressure of 1.60 bar.

His disqualification cuts his championship advantage to Lucas di Grassi, who finished the race in second place, to just 22 points.

Buemi will miss the New York double header due to his WEC commitments, meaning this is a major blow to his chances of retaining his championship crown.

Renault e.dams team-mate Nico Prost is promoted into fifth position, with Daniel Abt, Sam Bird, Jean-Eric Vergne, Maro Engel and Oliver Turvey all earning extra points.
