Sebastien Buemi has secured his second pole position of the season ahead of the Paris ePrix.
The Renault e.dams driver set a time just 0.006s faster than Jean-Eric Vergne in second.
Buemi was in the first qualifying group, traditionally a difficult session, but that didn’t appear to bother the championship leader. His time was not beaten as the three other groups set their times, and he head into super pole the fastest driver.
Vergne’s Techeetah team mate Esteban Gutierrez made his super pole debut, but a mistake on his fastest lap saw him run wide. The Mexican’s time was 10 seconds off of the place, putting him fifth in the standings.
Jose Maria Lopez was only three tenths of a second away from taking DS Virgin’s second pole position in Paris, but the Argentinian could only manage third.

Oliver Turvey took fourth, but a 10 place grid penalty knocks the NEXTEV driver back to 14th.
The Mahindra duo narrowly missed out on a super pole position. Felix Rosenqvist was another driver that didn’t let qualifying in group one set him back. He ended the session seventh.
Nick Heidfeld was the last man on track in the group stages, leaving it as late as possible to set his time. The German was just 0.006s away from a super pole slot. He will start the race fifth, moving up due to Turvey’s penalty.
Robin Frijns, Mitch Evans, and Nico Prost round off the top ten.
Buemi’s championship rival Lucas Di Grassi qualified 14th. The Brazilian was also out in the first qualifying group, but couldn’t put the lap together. It will be hard work for Di Grassi to continue to close the gap to Buemi, but the Abt Audi Sport driver has already proven he can make his way through the pack.
