Buemi dominates opening practice in Mexico

Renault e.dams’ Sebastien Buemi was fastest in the opening practice session in Mexico ahead of Loic Duval and 2016 Mexico ePrix winner Jerome d’Ambrosio.

Buemi’s fastest time a 1m02.222s, was over half a second ahead of second placed man Duval, despite being held up on his flying lap by Formula E debutant Esteban Gutierrez, who finished his first practice session in the sport in 19th position.

Dragon Racing enjoyed a strong session with the second and third fastest times, ahead of Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne and Andretti Autosport’s Robin Frijns, who struggled with the drivablily of his car all session and suffered multiple offs and spins.

Sam Bird ended the session in sixth place, over a second slower than Buemi, followed by Stephan Sarrazin and the Abt Audi Sport duo of Lucas Di Grassi and Daniel Abt.

Mitch Evans, who is still yet to score a point this season, rounded out the top ten.

Meanwhile, Maro Engel’s miserable season continued as he suffered similar relibility issues to those which prematurely ended his Buenos Aires ePrix.
