Nicholas Latifi has ended the second day of the Formula 2 Bahrain test fastest of all with a time of 1m40.541s, leading the Russian Time of Luca Ghiotto by a tenth of a second.
Latifi set his fastest time in the morning session, with the afternoon seeing little improvements to lap time as Rapax rookie Nyck de Vries was fastest with a 1:41.212s.
Ghiotto’s team-mate Artem Markelov made it a strong day for the Russian Time squad with the third fastest time, with Jordan King showing well for MP Motorsport in fourth.
2016 GP3 champion Charles Leclerc ended the day with the fifth fastest time, just ahead of the Pertamina Arden of Norman Nato.
A tenth of a second separated the ART Grand Prix duo of Alexander Albon and Nobuharu Matsushita in seventh and eighth, with Oliver Rowland and de Vries completing the top ten.
Further down the order Johnny Cecotto Jr, the series’ most experienced driver, set the 12th fastest time of the day ahead of Antonio Fuoco and the Racing Engineering duo of Louis Deletraz and Gustav Malja, while newcomer Raoul Hyman and Nabil Jeffri rounded out the field.
