Drivers confirmed for first day of post-season test

The full list of drivers taking part in GP3’s first day of post-season testing at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi has been confirmed by the series.

Just seven drivers from the last season of the series remain involved in the first day of testing with many rookies from other junior formulae put in seats across the grid.

Trident’s Giuliano Alesi, DAMS’ Santino Ferrucci, ART Grand Prix’s Nirei Fukuzumi and Jenzer Motorsport’s Alessio Lorandi remain with the teams that they raced with during the season. Arden International’s Jack Aitken, Koiranen GP’s Niko Kari and Campos Racing’s Steijn Schothorst are set to receive a taste of different machinery.

Aitken joins ART Grand Prix for the test alongside newcomers Max Defourny and George Russell.

Defourny finished in second in the Formula Renault 2.0 NEC championship and third in the Formula Renault 2.0 championship in 2016, while Russell raced in European Formula Three, finishing third behind Lance Stroll and Maximilian Guenther.

Meanwhile, Kari sits behind the wheel of an Arden car, with Schothorst joining Ferrucci at DAMS.

Other highly-rated drivers from the world of motorsport such as Euroformula Open champion Leonardo Pulcini and Italian F4 champion Marcos Siebert take part in the session for Campos and Jenzer respectively.

Pro Mazda Championship runner-up Patricio O’Ward joins Koiranen GP and British Formula Three winner Matheus Leist drives for Arden.

Testing involves a morning and afternoon session over three days beginning tomorrow (November 30) and continuing until December 2. Action gets underway at 0900-1130 and 1430-1700 GST tomorrow.
