2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix: Driver ratings

Despite taking his 10th victory of the season in Abu Dhabi, Lewis Hamilton was unable to prevent his Mercedes teammate, Nico Rosberg, from taking his maiden championship.

The German handled the huge amount of pressure brilliantly and wasn’t fazed by his teammate’s tactics. He also pulled a daring move on Max Verstappen on lap 21, proving Rosberg wasn’t playing it safe.

Sebastian Vettel picked up Ferrari’s first podium since Monza in third place ahead of the Red Bull duo of Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo. Kimi Raikkonen rounded off his 14th season in the sport with a sixth place finish.

Force India sealed fourth in the Constructors’ Championship with Nico Hulkenberg and Sergio Perez in seventh and eighth. While Felipe Massa finished ninth in his farewell race.

His Williams teammate, Valtteri Bottas, was one of five retirements, including Jenson Button who, in his 305th and final Grand Prix, retired with suspension failure.

Fernando Alonso rounded out the points positions, meaning he also finishes in the top 10 of the Drivers’ Championship.

22 drivers went head to head for the final time in 2016 under the setting sun at Yas Marina and gave us a real race to remember, here’s how we rated their performances.
