ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Daniel Abt says that he was more pleased by his performance in qualifying rather than his race at the Marrakesh ePrix.
The German driver qualified in sixth, missing out on Super Pole by just 0.074s behind NextEV’s Nelson Piquet, before finishing sixth in the race.
In doing so, Abt out qualified his teammate Lucas di Grassi for the second race in succession, with di Grassi only setting a time good enough for 12th on the grid.
“In qualifying I extracted the maximum to line up sixth, whereas in the race I was a little short of pace in the beginning,” said Abt.
With this opinion, Abt was pleased to claim eight points from the race but is looking to improve when Formula E heads to Buenos Aires for the next race in February.
“I’m delighted about the points, and will now analyse with the team exactly where we came up short before attacking again after the Christmas break,” added Abt.
Despite retiring from the first race in Hong Kong, eight points from two races represents Abt’s best-ever start to a Formula E season, with his previous best record after two races at the start of a season coming in season two when he claimed one seventh-place finish and six points in Putrajaya.
