On the first day of his final weekend with the Suzuki Team, Maverick Vinales was happy with how things went.
The Spaniard, who will make the switch to Yamaha after this race, was solid, getting into the top ten and showing good early pace in FP1. He then improved in FP2, ending the day in third, and showing that he may be in contention come Sunday.
Vinales was particularly happy with how the Michelin tyres feel at this track.
He said “I have a good feeling with the Michelins and have had all year. Today the soft rear has been really good, it has a lot of grip and that means a lot to us, so we’ll see if we can use it in the race because it’s a really good tyre.”
Vinales also believes that being this high up in the timesheets on Friday will give him confidence going forward.
“Starting Friday in the top three with good pace and strong, I always feel good. Every time, we feel more and more ready.”
