Rabat out to put on a good show for home fans

Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS rider Tito Rabat is looking to end a difficult rookie campaign on a positive note in front of his home fans in Valencia this weekend.

The Spaniard stepped up to the MotoGP class at the start of this season having won the Moto2 World Championship in dominant fashion in 2014. The transition from the intermediate to the premier class has been a difficult one, however. A hard-to-manage Honda has made life more difficult for Rabat than any other RC213V-mounted rider this season.

Despite his woes, Rabat has managed to score points on nine occasions this year and has made the top 10 twice. Currently, he is 21st in the championship on 29 points, nine ahead of Aspar’s Yonny Hernandez and six behind Avintia’s Loris Baz.

Rabat is keen to discover just how much progress he and his Marc VDS team have made over the course of a year, as the Ricardo Tormo Circuit was the scene of the Spaniard’s first MotoGP outing last November. The 2015 Valencia Moto2 winner reckons his RC213V is working much better than it has done at any other point this season, and hopes that this will allow him to score a decent result to go into the off-season with feeling positive.

“Valencia is always a track that has given me a good feeling and it was special to finish my time in Moto2 last year with a victory. It is going to be interesting to understand the progress we have made because it was in Valencia one year ago when I did my first proper test on a MotoGP machine,” he said.

“I hope to go there and be competitive and finish the season with a decent result to take into the winter. I think the Honda will work well in Valencia now because the bike has become more manageable. Like always I will be giving my maximum and trying to put on a good show for the fans.”
