World Superbike rider Xavi Fores will replace Avintia Racing’s Loris Baz after the Frenchman suffered an injury at Silverstone.
Baz was involved with a huge first lap crash with Pol Espargaro that saw the race red flagged. His injury was originally thought to only be a sprained ankle, but after an MRI scan in Switzerland, it was discovered to be much worse. Baz has two fractures on his right foot and will now be forced to sit out this weekend at Misano.
This means Avintia will bring in Ducati Superbike rider Xavi Fores to replace the injured Baz. The Barni Racing rider is no stranger to Misano, after picking up two solid fourth places earlier this year whilst racing in the World Superbike Championship.

Speaking about his opportunity, Fores said that “I’m really happy for this opportunity with the Avintia Racing team. I’m sure this will be a positive experience for me. My aim is to enjoy the maximum and leave the pressure at home.
I have nothing to demonstrate, the bike is completely different to anything I’ve ridden before. I have to be clever because everything will be new for me, so I only want to enjoy.”
The Spaniard will be the second Superbike rider on the grid next weekend, with Alex Lowes continuing to fill in for the injured Bradley Smith.
