Sam Lowes successfully battled the British weather as the Gresini racing rider took pole position at Silverstone for the second year in a row.
Lowes was helped by championship contender Johann Zarco crashing out at the death, essentially giving the Briton pole position.
Zarco would end up second to Lowes, with German Jonas Folger ending the day in third.
Alex Marquez will head the fourth row tomorrow after another solid ride. He will be joined by Hafiz Syahrin and Franco Morbidelli, who will start from fifth and sixth respectively.
Isaac Finales put in a fantastic ride to finish the session in seventh. He will be joined on the third row by Lorenzo Baldasarri and Simone Corsi. Tom Luthi was the final rider in the top ten.
The Moto2 race gets underway at the slightly later time of 14:00 BST, as Sam Lowes will attempt to finally win in front of his home crowd.
