Mahindra drivers penalised after Berlin ePrix qualifying

Both Mahindra drivers have been penalised after qualifying for the Berlin ePrix due to irregular tyre pressures.

Bruno Senna and Nick Heidfeld will start P15 and P16, with both drivers getting to the super pole group. They faced the likes of Sebastien Buemi, Daniel Abt, and Jean-Eric Vergne, but qualified fourth and fifth respectively at the end.

The demotion down the grid deals the team a big blow in the Teams’ Championship, as they are only six points ahead of Venturi with three races to go. Their best finish came from Heidfeld, who came third in the Beijing ePrix at the beginning of the season.

The team stated on Twitter that the penalty came from an error with the tyre pressures in both cars. This isn’t the first time that this has happened during the season, Antonio Felix da Costa had pole position in Long Beach taken away from him.
