Championship contender Sebastien Buemi laid the benchmark in the first practice session for the Berlin ePrix, with Lucas di Grassi not far behind in third.
Both Buemi and NEXTEV’s Oliver Turvey were the only drivers in the session to attempt a full power lap, although Turvey was one second off Buemi’s 57.648 lap time. Di Grassi set the best time out of the rest of the drivers to finish third.
Buemi’s teammate Nico Prost was not too far behind and looked competitive, a good sign for Renault e.dams going into the race. The Buenos Aires ePrix winner Sam Bird finished fifth, while Loic Duval in the Dragon Racing car was sixth after the chequered flag.

Mike Conway and Stephane Sarrazin in the Venturi cars were near the top of the classification at the beginning of the practice session, but ended up on seventh and ninth. Duval’s teammate Jerome D’Ambrosio split the two drivers by finishing eighth.
Again, Daniel Abt finishes far behind his Championship leading teammate, rounding out the top ten. Bruno Senna narrowly missed out on finishing ahead of Abt, while the winner of the first Formula E season Nelson Piquet Jr ended up in 12th.
Jean-Eric Vergne finds himself down in 13th, far behind his British teammate, while Nick Heidfeld in the other Mahindra car was just under 0.3 seconds slower. Rene Rast finished ahead of Robin Frijns, Simona de Silvestro, and Ma Qing Hua in his first Formula E session.
