Abt: I want to finish on the podium

Daniel Abt has said that he wants to finish on the podium of the Berlin ePrix so that he can celebrate with his home fans.

The German finished on the podium two races ago at the Long Beach ePrix, which his teammate Lucas di Grassi won. Di Grassi has won the last two races in the second Formula E season, and is the championship leader going into the final three rounds.

“The standings don’t interest me. I want to finish on the podium in my home race and celebrate with the German fans,” says Abt, ahead of the Berlin ePrix. “Furthermore; it’s the best way to help Lucas in the title battle and to bring along our team in the team classification.”

The Berlin ePrix returns for its second running, but this year will be taking place in the center of Berlin near Alexanderplatz. The Berlin Tempelhof Airport, which was the location of the ePrix last year, is being used as a refugee camp.

Abt goes on to say, “We know that we can achieve something great with our package and a top team performance. I promise that we’ll do everything to win a trophy.”

While his teammate is top of the Driver’s Championship, Abt finds himself tenth overall. He is eight points ahead of Jean-Eric Vergne and five points behind Robin Frijns.
