The inaugural Paris ePrix has come to a close, and after winning his second race in a row, my star driver of the weekend has to go to Lucas di Grassi.
He would have had three wins in a row if he wasn’t disqualified in Mexico City, but since then he has bounced back tremendously well. The Brazilian did a good job during the practice sessions, and was able to qualify on the front row of the grid behind Sam Bird in the powerful DS Virgin machine.
It was pointed out by the commentators that whoever starts in second may have some trouble from a small bump. However, di Grassi had a better start than the pole sitter, and he was able to get past Bird going into the first corner.

While the others were battling behind him through the race, the Brazilian was able to create a big gap, which grew to over six seconds in the second stint. He drove faultlessly yet again, and while a late safety car brought the field together again, the race didn’t get going again.
His lead is now extended to 11 points over Sebastien Buemi, and excluding his Mexico ePrix disqualification he hasn’t finished outside the top three all season. The only thing di Grassi can do now is get more pole positions, but we’ve seen in the last three races that this isn’t a necessity.
