Guiterrez: It was fun today

Haas driver Esteban Gutierrez has expressed how fun he found today’s race, despite finishing in 14th.

It was the first race of the season that Gutierrez completed, having been forced to retire in Australia and Bahrain.

“It was fun out there today and to finish the race was a big step. I think we can now build on this performance as we prepare for Russia.”

The Mexican praised his team’s pit stops, however, admitted they were hampered by the lack of DRS in today’s race.

“I really want to thank the guys because they’re doing a great job. The pit stops were fantastic, really consistent. Unfortunately, we didn’t have DRS (Drag Reduction System), so it was difficult to overtake, but overall it was a solid race.

We now need to finish inside the points and that’s what we’ll be focusing on, so I’m really looking forward to the next one.”

The Chinese Grand Prix was the first race in Haas’ history where the team failed to pick up a point, as Romain Grosjean finished 17th. They will look to improve in Russia on May 1.
