Round six of the second Formula E season has come to a close, and Long Beach has seen another great race. After not doing much wrong during the event, the star driver has to go to Lucas Di Grassi
Di Grassi was disqualified after the Mexico City ePrix due to his car being under the weight limit, but that hasn’t affected his performance this week. The Brazilian was eighth fastest in the first practice and third fastest in the second practice. He performed well during qualifying, getting himself into the Super Pole group yet again, but he was only able to grab the third fastest time.
For the race itself Di Grassi started on the front row alongside fellow championship contender Sam Bird, after the original pole sitter Antonio Felix Da Costa was disqualified due to one of his tyres being under the allowed pressure. The drivers got off the line well, and stayed out of trouble during the rest of the race.

Similar to the Mexico City ePrix three weeks ago, di Grassi stayed behind the race leader for the majority of the first stint. The Brazilian was able to pass Bird to lead the race before the pit window. He won the fan boost, but it wasn’t needed as he stayed in the lead until the chequered flag, even after losing a gap to Bird due to a safety car.
The win, which hasn’t been taken away from him this time, propels di Grassi to the top of the drivers standing, with only one point separating him and Sebastien Buemi after the Swiss driver netted the fastest lap of the race. Di Grassi will see this as redemption for the win he lost in Mexico, and will look to keep up his form going into the European rounds.
