Grosjean reflects on ‘amazing weekend’ in Melbourne

Romain Grosjean secured an impressive sixth place on the debut of the Haas F1 team at the Australian Grand Prix.

The Frenchman, having moved from Lotus to the new American outfit, drove particularly well after the red-flag to deliver strong race pace and keep the Force India of Nico Hulkenberg behind to cross the line and score eight points for Haas on their first ever race.

Speaking to Sky Sports F1 after the race, Grosjean was extremely happy with the outcome: “It feels like standing on the top step of the podium for us, it’s been an amazing race, amazing weekend. Australia has never been very nice to me so finally I change [team] and it works.”

Grosjean also praised the hard work of the team and strategic decisions: “Since day one I told the guys the car has got huge potential [and so] the result is more a boost for everyone. The key was the strategy and the red flag, we could change the tyres so we had a free pit stop and staying on the [medium] tyres for 39 laps to the end of the race. It wasn’t easy, we had no reference whatsoever.”
