Team Aguri are seeking a replacement for the Berlin and Moscow rounds later this season due to former race winner Antonio Felix da Costa having other commitments with his BMW squad in the DTM series.
He will be racing at the Red Bull Ring and Lausitzring rounds instead of the aforementioned Formula E rounds.
The boss of Team Aguri, Mark Preston, has said that they are looking for a driver with Formula E experience to fill his void for the two races with Sakon Yamamoto and Salvador Duran possible replacements for da Costa due to them previously driving the Aguri car.
Preston told Autosport: ”It could be someone different but the benefit with someone like Sakon, or Salvador, is they’ve driven the car.
”A driver with experience would be best, we haven’t really thought of that yet.”
The only problem with Felix da Costa missing the rounds is the rules brought in at the start of the season. With da Costa missing rounds eight and nine, no driver changes are allowed to be made to avoid interfering in the potential championship battle which would mean they would near special dispensation to bring in Yamamoto or Duran.
Da Costa said: ”It’s a big shame but I put all my effort into Formula E when I’m here.”
”You can’t ask me to make racing for a manufacturer like BMW in a championship like DTM a second thing.”
