Round three of the FIA Formula E championship heads to the Punta del Este Street Circuit in Uruguay. The first two rounds of season two of the Formula E championship have been enthralling as on track action remains as exciting as ever and teams get to grips with their new powertrains.
Renault e.Dams’ Sebastien Buemi dominated the season opener in Beijing. The Swiss driver was untouchable all weekend as became the first driver to achieve the ‘grand slam’ of taking the race victory, pole position, and fastest lap, bringing him a total of 30 points, the maximum possible in one weekend. ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport’s Lucas di Grassi came home second with Mahindra Racing’s Nick Heidfeld rounding out the podium.
The second round of the season in Putrajaya saw season one runner-up Lucas di Grassi storm to his first win of the season after Renault e.Dams’ Sebastien Buemi ran into technical troubles. Virgin Racing’s Sam Bird and Andretti’s Robin Frijns finished second and third.
Going into Punta del Este, di Grassi leads the championship on 43 points ahead of Buemi on 35 points and Sam Bird who is third on 24 points.

Going into Punta del Este, Renault e.Dams’ Sebastien Buemi is still the man to beat despite di Grassi leading the championship. Despite having the fastest package, Renault e.Dams’ Nico Prost has had a disappointing start to the season and thus will be hoping to make amends in Uruguay.
After missing the opening two rounds of the championship, Trulli Racing announced their withdrawal from the sport with Jaguar Racing taking their place from next season.
