Norisring and Munich in contention for Templehof replacement

The German round of the Formula E Championship looks to be moving home for the second season with both Munich and the Norisring in contention.

Berlin’s Templehof Airfield was due to host the race for a second, but due to it housing Syrian refugees it now looks to be off the calendar. According to an article by Autosport alternatives suggested include the Norisring in Nuremberg, Munich and an alternative location in Berlin. The Norisring has been used for many years in the German DTM series and German F3. Based on the streets of Nuremberg in Bavaria, it is a short 1.4-mile track, but given the long straights it would have to be changed to suit Formula E cars. It looks to be the favoured option given the time scale.

Other locations include Munich and Berlin which could be possible given they have the equipment from the Templehof circuit to construct and have stated that time isn’t a problem given they only announced the Russian round four months before the event last year.
