Status Grand Prix announces GP2 test line-up

Status Grand Prix have announced their line-up for the GP2 post season test that will take place later this week in Abu Dhabi. The Canadian team will run a completely new driver line-up at the Yas Marina Circuit.

Philo Armand will be driving the car #22 for all three days. The 19-year-old Indonesian debuted in single-seater racing in 2012 in the World Series by Renault. After three seasons in Formula Renault 2.0, Armand made the step up to the Formula Renault 3.5 championship in the 2015 season, joining Pons Racing where he drove five rounds alongside Roberto Merhi, Alex Fontana, and Will Bratt. He finished the season in 26th place with one point.

Joining Armand on the first day of testing will be Felix Rosenqvist. The Swede is a successful racer with multiple prestigious titles to his name: he is the current European Formula 3 champion and double winner of the famous Macau Grand Prix.

Alex Fontana will take over the car #23 from Rosenqvist o the second day of testing. The Swiss-Greek driver is already familiar with Status Grand Prix, driving for the Canadian team in the 2015 season of the GP3 Series, having finished the season as the best of the three GP3 drivers in 16th place with 16 points.

Gustav Malja will be behind the wheel of the #23 car on the final day of testing. The Swede already made his GP2 debut earlier this season, joining the after successful stints in the Formula Renault 3.5 championship and the European Formula 3 Series. He scored a point in his first race in Belgium, and participated also in the final two rounds in Bahrain and Abu Dhabi.
