Valtteri Bottas has dismissed suggestions that he needs to talk to fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen regarding their recent collisions in Austin and today in Mexico.
The two Finns collided at Turn five when fighting for position, after Bottas attempted a move around the outside of Raikkonen of turn four. This forced the Ferrari driver to retire from the race due to suspension damage.
The pair also collided in Austin, but on that occasion, Bottas was forced to retire from the race.
The stewards decided on this occasion neither driver was at fault and thus no penalty was awarded.
“It’s a shame it had to end like that, but that’s racing,” said Bottas in an interview after the race.
“It was big contact, but it was just unlucky that we got together again.
“There is not anything to speak about for me, we were racing hard obviously.”
Bottas insinuated Raikkonen did not leave him enough space.
“Normally what I’m used to in those situations is that there is enough space for two cars when you go into a chicane,” he added.
“Of course, I’m not going to back off, I’m fighting for positions.
“I thought it was a decent possibility to get through but it ended up like this.
“There was just no room. I was on the inside and we touched, but I had no space to go [into].”
