Kvyat leads the way in Singapore second practice

Daniil Kvyat was the surprise pacesetter in Singapore as he topped the timesheets in second practice at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The Marina Bay Street Circuit should suit the strengths of the RB11, both drivers showed reasons for Red Bull to optimistic going into tomorrow’s qualifying.

Kimi Raikkonen was second fastest ahead of Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo, a tenth separating the top three drivers.

The surprises continued as Lewis Hamilton was only fourth fastest, after making a mistake on his fastest lap on the super-soft tyres. Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg also struggled to make the most of the option tyres on his qualifying simulation and ended up seventh fastest.

Sergio Perez continued his strong form in the B-Spec Force India setting the sixth fastest time while teammate Nico Hulkenberg struggled to match his teammate eventually ending up ninth fastest.

McLaren enjoyed a positive day in Singapore as Alonso set the eighth fastest time, only eight tenths slower than fastest man Kvyat.

The true pace of the Williams is not apparent yet, however, Massa finished second practice eleventh fastest while Bottas struggled to set a fast time on the super-soft tyres thus was down in seventeenth.

Manor’s Will Stevens crashed early in the session which resulted in the second red flag of the day.
