Hulkenberg targeting Williams in Singapore

Force India driver Nico Hulkenberg believes his team can fight Williams at this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

The German believes the battle behind Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull will be very tight with several teams involved.

Hulkenberg finished seventh at the Italian Grand Prix last time out. The B-Spec Force India has performed well since its introduction earlier in the season and he believes they will be in the mix around the Marina Bay Street Circuit.

“I think so,” said Hulkenberg to Motorsport.com

“If you look back to Hungary, which is more similar to this track, we were right behind Valtteri [Bottas]’s gearbox before the front wing fell off.

“So I think we should have a good opportunity here to beat them.”

The Force India driver believes Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are out of reach.

“I definitely see Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull are probably at the front,” he added.

“They will be quite hard to beat, but I think behind that it’s us battling with Lotus, Toro Rosso, maybe McLaren here, but it will be very close behind those three teams.”
