McLaren are considering dropping Jenson Button for 2016 due to financial difficulties according to the Daily Mail.
Although they do not have the most expensive line-up on the grid, (despite costing the team £33 million annually), after what has been one of the worst seasons ever in this history of the team, and without a title sponsor since Vodafone left in 2013, the financial situation of the team is getting harder to manage.
This may lead to some tough decisions being made such as replacing Jenson Button with Kevin Magnussen – who would cost a mere £1 million per year.
At the age of 35, Button could be saying goodbye to McLaren. The team are failing to use his experience and skill by producing uncompetitive cars since Lewis Hamilton left the team at the end of 2012.
However, these rumours are yet to be confirmed, and if the Woking team are capable of some stronger results at the end of this season, we might be able to the see the Brit driving his seventh season for McLaren in 2016.
