giedovandergardeaddaxGiedo van der Garde will drive a GP2 car in a private test on Monday, after an invitation from Campos Racing.

The Dutchman will be in action at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, and will mark the first time he has driven a GP2 car since 2012, before his graduation to Formula 1 in 2013 with the Caterham team.

Van der Garde, while pleased with the opportunity from Campos Racing, doesn’t appear to have his eyes set on a return to GP2.

“I am pleased with the invitation,” said Van der Garde. “For me this is the best way to get fit and stay in rhythm. My ambition is and continues to be to drive in Formula 1.”

The 29 year old picked up five race wins during his time in GP2, with a best championship result of fifth in 2011, while driving for the Barwa Addax Team, founded by Adrian Campos, now Team Principal and namesake of Campos Racing.
