"Needs to win again" – Nico Rosberg

Following another dominant win from teammate Lewis Hamilton in Sochi on Sunday, Nico Rosberg have admitted he needs to start winning races again to have a chance on the drivers title. The German has been playing second fiddle to Hamilton since his last win in Germany in July, and is now trailing 17 points behind his fellow Mercedes driver.

“I just know I need to go out and win races now and see how it goes.” Rosberg told Sky Sports News HQ. When asked about how he now feels about the double-points rule in the season finale in Abu Dhabi, Rosberg with no doubts favours the new rule: “Yes for sure I love it!”

Rosberg is now in the hunt for the championship, after having lead for the most of the 2014 season. Prone to multiple mistakes and a major reliability issue in Singapore, Rosberg has been unable to challenge teammate Lewis Hamilton for race wins, causing Hamilton to score a four win-streak. And if history is anything to go by, no driver who has managed a four-race streak in the closing stages of a season has ended up losing the championship.

Meanwhile, Hamilton on his side of the garage has promise he won’t go defensive going into the final three races: “I don’t feel like I’m being the hunted, I feel like I’m hunting – I’ve been saying that all year. I’m hunting for the championship. Just because I’m at the top going towards it, it doesn’t mean I’m not still hunting for it. There are three races still to go, a lot of points still to get, so I need to get them.”
