Valtteri_Bottas-Chinese_GP-2014-R05Valtteri Bottas has said that he is ready to sign a new contract with his current team, Williams. Bottas made his F1 debut in 2013 with the Williams team and is set to commit his immediate future to the team.

The Finn currently partners Felipe Massa who is in his first season with the team. The team, based in Grove, are also keen to keep Massa onboard for the future also.

Although other teams are showing an interest in Bottas for a longer future contract, the Finn has made it clear he would like to stay with Williams beyond 2014.

When asked on what his feelings were whilst waiting for a new contract, Bottas said: “Personally I don’t see a reason to look around at this moment.

“But it’s too early to say – it’s better to wait for confirmation, and we will speak when we have something to say.”

Williams are currently in a strong battle with Ferrari for third in the constructors championship and with stable regulations for 2015, Bottas sees no reason to leave Williams yet. The team changed from Renault to Mercedes power for the new season and have been one of the teams to benefit most from the title leading power unit.

“I really think this team is not at its peak yet,” he said.

“I really think the direction is right, and I am confident this team can still be better than what we have seen this year. So that’s why I am really confident here with me continuing.”

Bottas said that even if there is a chance of securing to drive with top teams such as Mercedes, Red Bull or Ferrari for 2016, that was not his priority now.

“I have a good few guys behind me thinking about those things so I should not really plan that far away,” he said.

“I should just focus on this moment, this year, then once we know what is going to happen next year we can focus for that, and then we will see.”
