Marc Marquez ended Friday practice for the MotoGP German Grand Prix fastest of all at the Sachsenring, while his factory Ducati Lenovo team-mate Pecco Bagnaia was left facing Qualifying 1 after finishing the afternoon session down in 13th.
According to the official MotoGP timesheets, the reigning world champion’s best of 1m19.394s put him 0.166s clear of Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez, who had pipped Marquez by 0.051s in the morning session. Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez made it a Ducati 1-3-4, and The Race notes Marquez’s benchmark was just three tenths shy of the session record Di Giannantonio set here in 2025. After a low-key weekend at Assen, Marquez has returned to his most successful circuit with a title deficit to attack, having earlier shrugged off a small Turn 3 fall in FP1.
Jack Miller Springs Yamaha Surprise As Q1 Trap Snares Pecco Bagnaia
Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller grabbed a standout fifth, ahead of the Aprilia trio of Ai Ogura, Marco Bezzecchi and championship leader Jorge Martin, whose title defence resumes at a crucial checkpoint this weekend.
Pedro Acosta, just ten days on from carpal tunnel surgery, and Franco Morbidelli claimed the final direct Q2 places, although The Race reports Morbidelli is under investigation for baulking Acosta during the session.
Bagnaia, 0.738s adrift, must now navigate Saturday’s Q1 alongside Enea Bastianini — who crashed at Turn 8 in the closing moments — Brad Binder, Luca Marini, Fabio Quartararo and Joan Mir. Qualifying begins at 9:50am UK time on Saturday.
