Bezzecchi ban turns Brno into Aprilia title crisis

Marco Bezzecchi will miss Sunday’s Czech Grand Prix after FIM MotoGP stewards suspended the Aprilia rider over his marshal incident following the Brno Sprint.

The decision, confirmed by MotoGP after Saturday’s race, turns an already damaging crash into a major title-fight blow for the championship leader. Bezzecchi had fallen out of the Sprint at Turn 3 with two laps remaining, having already seen Francesco Bagnaia deny Ai Ogura in the Brno Sprint at the front.

Stewards hand Bezzecchi Czech GP suspension

According to the official MotoGP stewards update, the panel ruled that Bezzecchi had pushed and struck circuit marshals who were trying to recover his Aprilia after the crash.

The stewards cited Article 3.3.2.2 of the FIM Grand Prix World Championship Regulations, describing the incident as an action prejudicial to the interests of the sport. After a hearing, the sanction was confirmed as suspension from the Czech GP, with Aprilia given the right to appeal within one hour of the decision being published.

It is a brutal swing in a weekend that was already becoming awkward for Aprilia. Bezzecchi’s crash had tightened the championship picture, while his physical condition had already made Sunday look delicate after his Brno pain turned the Sprint crash into a wider title warning.

Now the consequence is simpler and heavier: unless an appeal changes the ruling, Bezzecchi will score nothing from the Grand Prix while his rivals have a full-distance race to attack his lead.

For Aprilia, that shifts Brno from a damage-limitation exercise into a potential championship crisis. Jorge Martin’s penalty-hit weekend had already made the factory’s Sunday finely balanced, and Martin’s Brno Q1 escape had left Aprilia with a bigger problem even before its leading rider was removed from the race.

Bezzecchi’s pace may still be intact, but the title race has changed shape in one stewards’ document. What looked like a messy Saturday mistake has become the kind of Sunday absence that can redraw a championship.
