Share
  • Shane van Gisbergen’s Watkins Glen win gets him inside the top 16.
  • Tyler Reddick’s top spot remains unchanged.
  • There were quite a few shifts near the chase cutline.

Although Shane van Gisbergen walked away with the bulk of the points at Watkins Glen, 68 to be precise, the spotlight in the standings still refused to shift away from Tyler Reddick, who has been sitting at the top since the opening stretch of the season.

Reddick finished inside the top five at Watkins Glen and added 41 more points to his total, keeping himself anchored at the top of the standings table.

The biggest rise and fall in the standings after Watkins Glen

Championship leader Tyler Reddick’s fifth-place finish at Watkins Glen added another 20-point cushion between himself and Denny Hamlin, stretching his lead to 129 points in the overall tally.

There was no movement inside the top five of the NASCAR Cup standings, but Bubba Wallace managed to push past William Byron into the top ten. Byron dropped two spots after finishing P36, sliding from 10th down to 12th in the standings table.

Among the top 10 group, Ty Gibbs climbed one position and displaced Carson Hocevar in the order. Gibbs now sits in sixth place after finishing third at Watkins Glen. Hocevar, who had surged into the top 10 after his Talladega win, dropped one spot to seventh following a P28 finish at The Glen.

In the fight around the Chase cut-line, the standings saw significant movement. Shane van Gisbergen’s win pushed him from 19th to 16th in the standings, placing him on the bubble and six points clear of Chase Briscoe.

Austin Dillon recorded the biggest climb in the standings table. After finishing sixth at Watkins Glen following a P25 start, Dillon collected 38 points and climbed five positions to sit at 22nd, moving up from 26th. Michael McDowell, who finished runner-up behind SVG, gained two positions in the standings after collecting 36 points from the race.

On the losing side, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Erik Jones each fell three positions in the standings after the event.

Katherine Legge also entered the points conversation, becoming the 39th different driver to score points during the 2026 season with her first appearance of the year.

Kyle Busch gained two positions in the standings and now sits at 24th after finishing eighth at Watkins Glen, marking his second top-10 finish of the season and earning 35 points in the process.

Chase Elliott, who started the race from 27th, finished 24th and collected 13 points. His position in the standings remains unchanged at third place.
