  • Brown expresses interest in appearing in the upcoming movie sequel.
  • Lando Norris offers blunt advice and praise for the film.

Zak Brown, chief executive officer of McLaren Racing, recently spoke about the F1 movie, discussing its positive impact and how it exposed the sport to a wider audience, driving new fan following.

He’s also more than happy to contribute to the sequel, which was announced by the film’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, earlier this year.

Directed by Joseph Kosinski, the sports drama movie centres on Sonny Hayes, who retires from F1 after a tragic incident.

However, life gives him a second opportunity at redemption when his friend and the owner of a struggling Formula 1 team asks him to rejoin the sport. Agreeing to his offer, he drives alongside rookie Joshua Pearce, helping the team to get back on track and confronting his fears.

Brown expresses interest in F1 sequel

During a conversation at the Autosport Business Exchange Miami, Brown shared what the filming experience with Brad Pitt was like for the F1 movie. He said, “It was cool. Brad then went and drove our Formula 1 car, did a very good job, so that was really cool. He was very humble and was blown away by Formula 1.”

Moreover, he revealed that the movie was “great” and that he’s aware that a sequel is in development. He said that the movie has contributed immensely in attracting new fans to the sport.

Comparing the movie to Top Gun in terms of influence, he elaborated, ” It’s the same producers and directors from Top Gun. I remember Top Gun, everyone wanted to be a fighter pilot and Tom Cruise. So I think the same thing, to have Brad Pitt in a Formula 1 movie is just very additive to our sport. It was massively successful, and I’m looking forward to the next one.”

He also expressed interest in making a cameo in the sequel.

McLaren driver Norris’ advice to Brad Pitt ahead of driving his 2023 McLaren MCL60

During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Pitt revealed that, along with F2 driver Alex Dunne, Norris was also present during his F1 car test, giving him some valuable advice ahead of the drive. He revealed that Norris didn’t have much faith in him.

Revealing why it was understandable to doubt his talent, he added, “Fair enough, like, the time I put up still wasn’t even close to his. No.” He said that Norris advised him not to “cock it up.”

After the screening, Norris did offer his review that the movie was “good” and “inspirational.” He also mentioned that it could be interpreted in many positive ways and described it as a cool movie that offers a lot of inspiration to young people.
