Verstappen rubbishes reports of Red Bull power struggle

Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen insists speculation that Red Bull team boss Christian Horner and motorsport advisor Helmut Marko are embroiled in a power struggle is “BS”.

Reports emerged earlier this week that Horner is trying to force Marko out of the team, something Horner and Marko have both denied.

Marko is adamant he will only step back from his role at Red Bull when he decides, rather than being pushed towards the exit door.

This weekend’s United States Grand Prix marks one year since the passing of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, which has seen changes behind the scenes to the company’s management structure.

But Verstappen was quick to shutdown suggestions of a Horner-Marko rift, stressing all current Red Bull personnel have played a key role in their recent success.

“From the outside, people are basically trying to talk BS,” Verstappen said, as quoted by RacingNews365.

“The mood in the team is very, very good and everyone knows exactly what their role is and of course it was sad times last year when Dietrich passed away.

“But we have tried to keep that legacy, keep it moving forward and everyone that we have right now in the team is important to the success that we are having.

“That is why there are no changes for the future, and I think that basically explains it.”

Verstappen wrapped up his third world championship last time out in Qatar and is chasing a third successive victory at the Circuit of the Americas.
