Williams has confirmed it will be launching its 2021 Formula 1 car on March 5 just a week before Formula 1’s three-day pre-season test begins in Bahrain.
The team’s 2021 challenger, which it revealed would be called the FW43B, will be a carryover of last year’s car as regulations state that all teams must use their 2020 chassis.
The Grove-based outfit failed to register a points finish in 2020 for the first time in its history, but made significant gains on the performance front.
Williams regularly challenged the backend of the midfield last season, having found itself more than a second adrift of the field in 2019.
Although it propped up the constructors’ championship for a third successive year, the team showed it has taken a step in the right direction, with ambitions to continue its resurgence up the grid.
2021 will mark the team’s first-full season under owners Dorilton Capital, who acquired the team midway through 2020 from the Williams family.
George Russell and Nicholas Latifi have both been retained for a second year as team-mates, with Mercedes junior Russell now in his third season at Williams.
Russell forged his reputation as a one-lap specialist with nine Q2 appearances in 2020, qualifying a best of 12th at both the Styrian and British Grand Prix’s.
Latifi performed solidly in his rookie campaign, missing out on a points finish at Austria, Monza and Imola where he classified 11th in all three events.
