Ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, Haas has confirmed it will be retaining its current driver line-up of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen for the 2020 season.
This will be the fourth year that the current Haas duo will partner each other, amid rumours that Grosjean’s seat was under threat from Nico Hulkenberg, who had been dropped from Renault in favour of Esteban Ocon.
Despite an impressive fifth place finish in the constructors’ championship in 2018, the American team has struggled to mirror its performance this year.
They currently sit ninth in the standings with just 26 points, compared to the 93 points it scored overall in 2018.
Grosjean, who has been with the team since Haas made its debut in 2016, was confident for a better performance in the future despite the struggles 2019 has brought for the French driver.
“We’ve had our challenges this season, but we’ll use both the experience of last year and this year to move forward in 2020,” Grosjean said. “I’m looking forward to working with Kevin (Magnussen) and the whole team and continuing our journey together”.
Magnussen echoed his team-mates thoughts surrounding a brighter future for Haas, and also admitted he was confident he would remain with the team for next year.
“I’ve had the comfort of knowing I’d be continuing with the team in 2020 and that’s very much been a positive throughout what’s often been a difficult 2019 season.
“Knowing we can work to make things better, improve our understanding of our situation, and get back to the level of competitiveness we showed last season – these are the things that excite me about 2020”.
