Mercedes unveils W10 during Silverstone shakedown

Reigning Formula 1 constructors’ champion Mercedes has unveiled its 2019 car, the W10, which features a revised livery.

Initially revealing digitally rendered images of the new car, the team later posted photos taken trackside during the W10’s shakedown at Silverstone on Wednesday morning.

Mercedes aims to secure a sixth straight drivers’ and constructors’ championship double this season, having swept each and every title since the dawn of the V6 hybrid era.

“The 2019 season will be a new challenge for all of us,” team principal Toto Wolff said. “The regulations have changed quite substantially.

“We have to start from scratch, we need to prove ourselves again – against our own expectations and against our competitors.

“With the regulation change for the new season, every team can have a shot at the title and we’re seeing all of them as a potential threat.

“We’re eager to hit the ground running in Barcelona, to benchmark ourselves against our own simulations and see if our predictions materialise on track.”

The team retains its driver line-up for a third season, with five-time world champion Lewis Hamilton paired with Valtteri Bottas.

After having lost his Force India seat at the end of last season, Esteban Ocon will occupy a reserve driver role at Mercedes this year.

Red Bull and Racing Point are also scheduled to reveal their 2019 cars on Wednesday, with the first official pre-season test commencing on in Barcelona on Monday.
