Lewis Hamilton has put his Mercedes on pole for the 2018 Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, his fourth at the Yas Marina circuit.
Hamilton first revealed his pace with a lap time of 1m35.6s in Q2, considerably faster than the rest of the grid.
The reigning world champion went on to improve his time to a 1m34.794 which beat the track record.
Team-mate Valtteri Bottas will start the race from second making it the fifth consecutive time in Abu Dhabi that a Mercedes pairing start on the front row, which is another record for a manufacturer.
Sebastian Vettel topped the session in Q1 but could not match the pace of the Mercedes as qualifying came to a conclusion and had to settle for third, meaning Ferrari have still never had a pole position at the circuit.
Kimi Raikkonen qualified fourth in his final race with the Ferrari team, ahead of the Red Bull pairing of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen.
Romain Grosjean took the best-of-the-rest spot in sixth, narrowly beating Sauber’s Charles Leclerc to the honour.
Estaban Ocon and Nico Hulkenberg rounded out the top 10, with Carlos Sainz two-hundredths of a second off Q3 in 11th.
Ericsson qualified in 12thahead of the second Haas of Kevin Magnussen who struggled for pace during the session.
Sergio Perez could only manage 14thand Fernando Alonso rounds out his current spell in F1 with a 15thplace grid position.
The Toro Rosso pair qualified in 16thand 17thafter Pierre Gasly lost power going into the final corner leaving him unable to improve.
Stoffel Vandoorne will start the race in 18thafter being beaten by team-mate Alonso in every qualifying session of 2018 and the Williams duo Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Stroll will start at the back of the grid.
