Schumacher F3 domination continues with race 2 and 3 poles

Mick Schumacher has taken pole position for the second race of the European Formula 3 weekend at Spielberg, 0.087 seconds ahead of Prema team-mate Marcus Armstrong.

Schumacher held pole for the weekend’s opening race and went on to take victory which makes it four consecutive wins for the German who now sits at the top of the championship standings.

Armstrong had seemed like the man to beat for much of the session but had to settle for second on the grid after his final flying lap was compromised after running close behind team-mate Guanyu Zhou.

Third went to Robert Shvartzman, ahead of Juri Vips who had been topping the timesheet with Schumacher and Armstrong earlier in the session.

Motopark’s Jonathan Aberdein was fifth fastest while Carlin’s Jehan Daruvala will start from sixth on the grid ahead of Sacha Fenestraz in seventh.

Schumacher’s title-rival Dan Ticktum set the eighth fastest time although he was only 0.004s ahead of Ralf Aron’s best time in ninth.

Nikita Troitckii rounded out the top 10.

Schumacher will also be on pole for the third and final race of the weekend, with grid position based on the second fastest time set in the session, with Shvartzman joining him on the front row.
