David Beckmann has gone fastest in GP3’s practice at Spa-Francorchamps, leading a Trident 1-2-3-4 in a session disrupted by a lengthy red-flag period.
Beckmann topped the timesheets on multiple occasions and set a time of 2m06.111s in the final seconds of the 45-minute session to secure the position.
Team-mate Pedro Piquet improved to 0.105s adrift of the German as the chequered flag fell, with Ferrari academy racer Giuliano Alesi third.
Ryan Tveter also held the first position at times during the session, ending in fourth as the last driver in the 2m06s bracket.
Drivers’ championship leader Anthoine Hubert was fifth fastest above Force India Formula 1 tester Nikita Mazepin.
Juan Manuel Correa and Jake Hughes placed seventh and eighth.
Sauber F1 test driver Tatiana Calderon led for around a third of the session as an early red flag meant only eight laps were submitted from seven competitors in the opening 23 minutes.
This period of inactivity lasted for approximately 15 minutes as the series reported a technical issue.
Ferrari-backed Callum Ilott completed the top 10.
Richard Verschoor ended in 16th on his series debut for MP Motorsport after Dorian Boccolacci’s promotion to the Dutch outfit’s F2 line-up to replace Roberto Merhi.
Verschoor’s new team-mate Devlin DeFrancesco was 17th as he returned following missing racing in Hungary due to illness.
Julien Falchero did not set a lap time and was listed in 20th.
