Ducati dominates day one in Austria with Dovizioso on top

Andrea Dovizioso lead the field after day one in Austria, after a wet FP2 session disrupted proceedings.

Dovizioso lead the Ducati charge at the Red Bull Ring, with the Italian manufacturer again showing their dominance in Austria.

The winner from Brno topped the timesheets, in front of teammate Jorge Lorenzo and Danilo Petrucci.

Marc Marquez was the best of the rest in fourth, with Andrea Iannone behind him in fifth.

Dani Pedrosa was sixth, with Cal Crutchlow in seventh. Tito Rabat was eighth with Johann Zarco the best of the Yamaha’s in ninth.

Maverick Vinales and Valentino Rossi were way down the order, the Yamaha pairing finishing tenth and eleventh in the session, and will have to improve tomorrow for FP3.

The riders will return to the Austrian circuit tomorrow, with qualifying getting underway at 13:10 BST.
