Daniel Ricciardo set to quit Red Bull and join Renault

Daniel Ricciardo is set to quit Red Bull and join Renault for the 2019 Formula One season.

The Australian has been in the Red Bull car for five years, but Race Fans claim the 29-year-old has penned a contract with Renault for next season.

Red Bull renewed the contract of Ricciardo’s teammate Max Verstappen last year, despite the fresh-faced 20-year-old having longer on his deal at the time than his more experienced colleague.

Ricciardo had decided to postpone his decision of whether to extend his Red Bull contract until the team determined which power unit to use, eventually deciding in June to use Honda power as opposed to Renault.

With seven race wins and 29 podiums to his name, Ricciardo is one of the more accomplished drivers on the grid, and his arrival at Renault promises to propel the team to the business end of races.

Lying fourth in the 2018 Drivers’ Championship, Ricciardo sits ten points behind Kimi Räikkönen in third.
