Max Verstappen

This Belgian-Dutch driver made the biggest leap and climbed the ladder up by five positions. In the last power rankings, Max was at the sixth position, and his rise comes after consecutive wins, particularly in the Canadian race and the win at his home track of Red Bull in Austria. His victory deserves all the more appreciation when in Monaco he was unable to claim the first position, which was taken by his well-deserved teammate Daniel Riccardo.

Charles Leclerc

Despite his best efforts and even making points in GPs, his Austrian and France races were seen as disappointing by some, and especially by him. However, this is a true quality of a racer which calls to be recognised. In his previous races, he had managed to defeat his teammate in spite of a penalty for changing gearbox.

Valtteri Bottas

Bottas’ third position on the list can be credited to three races where he performed exceptionally well. All his three races in Canada, France and in Austria deserve high praise. Despite some mechanical issues and the lost lead, his recovery has been amazing.

Lewis Hamilton

Hamilton has dropped from his previous top position to current 4thposition, but these rank fluctuations are no alien to him. In Montreal, a track he is much acquainted with, somehow he was not able to race to his maximum potential and lost to Paul Richard. In the Austrian race, it seemed that he learned from his previous mistakes. However, to defeat Verstappen and the continuously increasing excellence of Leclerc and Bottas, he would have to put in consistent effort. His recent British and German GP races indicate that Hamilton has already started to work upon his consistency.

Sebastian Vettel

Although by not a great margin, still, Vettel has drifted a step down to the fifth position. In his Austrian race, after facing a penalty Vettel had to pave way for his teammate. Considering that Carlos Sainz had already made into Q3 despite being stopped along with Vettel, perhaps Vettel could have been let off. In his latest German GP race, although he started from the pole position, he couldn’t finish the race.

Kevin Magnussen

Magnussen is among the two new entrants into the list. Since the Baku GP, his presence has been missed in the top ranks, especially after he initiated the season from first position. KMag’s performance in France and Austrian GPs was commendable and contributed effectively to improve the standing of his team – Haas. Disappointingly he finished at the ninth and the eleventh position in British and German GPs respectively.
