Marquez makes it nine in a row at the Sachsenring

Marc Marquez continued his reign as the “Sachsenking” by taking yet another win at the German circuit.

The Spaniard didn’t have it all his way, but as soon as he pulled the pin the Honda rider pulled off from the rest of the field, and breezed to victory.

Valentino Rossi was close to fighting with Marquez at one point. However, as soon as Marquez saw Rossi was getting close, the Spaniard finally shot off from the rest of the field.

Jorge Lorenzo did lead for a while, but shot back in the order once his tyres went. The Ducati rider would finish back in sixth place, well outside the podium places.

Maverick Vinales would finish third, beating out Danilo Petrucci who was unlucky not to finish on the podium. Valentino Rossi was second, meaning both the Factory Yamaha’s finished on the podium.

Alvaro Bautista was fifth, with the Angel Nieto Team rider putting in a great ride despite his future being up in the air.

Andrea Dovizioso finished just behind teammate Lorenzo in seventh, with Dani Pedrosa eighth in his final German GP. Johann Zarco was ninth with Bradley Smith putting in a solid ride to finish tenth.

With Marquez still dominating the standings,  the MotoGP championship goes on it’s summer break. It will return next month at the Czech GP at Brno.
