The 2018 Formula One championship took another twist in Austria as Sebastian Vettel retook the title lead while Lewis Hamilton suffered his first retirement of the season.

For the first time since Spain 2016, neither Mercedes finished the race, with Hamilton and team-mate Valtteri Bottas both suffering mechanical failures.

The double DNF gifted Ferrari the perfect opportunity to retake the drivers’ championship lead and a third place for its star driver put him a point ahead of Hamilton in the championship fight. But, with Kimi Raikkonen finishing second, the decision not two switch it’s drivers – and award Vettel three more championship points – could come back to bite them in the championship fight.

Max Verstappen’s fourth career victory – and his first that hasn’t coincided with a demotion for Daniil Kvyat – could have been a little overshadowed by the championship fight, but the home fans were out in force at the Red Bull Ring, making it a victory to remember for the Dutchman.

Here are some of the best photos from the ninth round of the championship.
