Marquez on pole for Assen TT in tight Q2 session

Marc Marquez ended his pole drought at the Dutch TT by taking pole in a tight Q2 session at Assen.

The Spaniard took pole at the death, with seemingly half the field holding pole position for a split second before Marquez finally took pole.

The Repsol Honda rider will line up first for tomorrow’s race, with fellow Honda rider Cal Crutchlow starting from second and Valentino Rossi lining up third.

Andrea Dovizioso will head up row two in fourth, with Alex Rins starting fifth and Maverick Vinales starting sixth.

Aleix Espargaro will start from row three in seventh, with Johann Zarco eighth. Andrea Iannone will start ninth, despite heading the field when the chequered flag went out.

Jorge Lorenzo will start tenth, with Danilo Petrucci eleventh and Alvaro Bautista twelfth.

The MotoGP race will start tomorrow at 13:00 BST, with a tight Assen race expected from the Cathedral, as is the norm with the Dutch circuit.
