Lewis Hamilton set the fastest time in second practice for the 2018 Austrian Grand Prix with Mercedes team-mate Valtteri Bottas 0.1 seconds behind.
Hamilton set a time of 1.04.579 on the soft tyres early on in the session and was unable to go faster on the ultrasofts, which appeared to the trend across the field.
Sebastian Vettel was the first of the front-runners to set a competitive time, with Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo going 0.4s slower on the supersoft tyre.
Hamilton slotted in 0.08s behind Vettel on his first flying lap of the afternoon before going on to set his session-topping time on his second run.
Vettel finished the session in third fastest and 0.236s off the pace, ahead of the Red Bull pairing of Ricciardo and Max Verstappen who were separated by a mere tenth of a second.
Kimi Raikkonen was the slowest of the driver of the top three teams and ran wide early on in the session after locking up.
Romain Grosjean was best of the rest in seventh ahead of Haas team-mate Kevin Magnussen who took a couple of trips across the gravel throughout the afternoon.
Pierre Gasly set the ninth fastest time before bring out the red flag after clipping the kerb and damaging his front suspension at the final corner. The team were able to get his Toro Rosso out again before the end of the afternoon’s running.
Stoffel Vandoorne completed the top ten with a time 1.351s slower than Hamilton’s fastest.
His McLaren team-mate Fernando Alonso lost running after sustaining floor damage, and understeer meant he could only manage the 19th fastest time when he did get back out on track.
