Red Bull domination continues in FP2
Daniel Ricciardo has gone fastest in second practice for the Formula 1 2018 Monaco Grand Prix, with Red Bull team-mate Max Verstappen +0.194 seconds behind.
Verstappen was the early pacesetter and was first to break the unofficial track record with a laptime of 1m 12.0s and the Dutchman seemed to set to improve again when the session was red flagged in order for track repairs to be made between Casino Square exit down to Mirabeau.
After the restart Ricciardo swapped second fastest times with Sebastian Vettel before getting settled +0.018s behind Verstappen.
He then went on to set the fastest time of the day, a 1m 11.841s.
Vettel finished in third with Lewis Hamilton a tenth behind in fourth.
Both Mercedes drivers ran a different tyre strategy to the majority of the field, with Hamilton complaining about his lack of pace on the hardest compound of tyres available.
Kimi Raikkonen finished in fifth and only 0.099s behind the Hamilton, despite running into traffic and Valtteri Bottas brought up the rear of the big three teams in sixth.
Renault and McLaren took the rest of the top-ten spots, with Nico Hulkenberg best of the rest in seventh, ahead of the McLaren of Stoffel Vandoorne who in turn was four hundredths of a second faster than team-mate Fernando Alonso in ninth.
Carlos Sainz rounded out the top ten with a time just +1.398s slower than the pacesetting laptime of Ricciardo.
Haas continued to be off the pace compared to their performance in the opening rounds of 2018 with Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean in 16th and 18th respectively.
