Ferrari Formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen was fastest in the third and final practice session ahead of qualifying for the Bahrain Grand Prix.
The Finn was over half a second quicker than anyone else in the session and looks to be in good stead going into qualifying. There was a minor incident at the end of the session where he almost crashed into second-placed Max Verstappen exiting the pit lane but otherwise he had a seamless session.
The two Red Bulls of Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo followed behind in second and third respectively. Ricciardo especially ruined a few laps by going wide at the final corner. Many drivers throughout the session ran wide at the last corner which could cause a problem in qualifying.
The other Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel had a very problematic session. On his opening run, one of the barge-boards came loose causing his opening run to be cut short. Then, later on, his final stint ended after he reported a mechanical issue on the radio. Vettel only managed eight laps in the session but still managed a fifth-place finish.
Mercedes had an underwhelming session with both of its drivers struggling to find grip and time on the super-soft tyres. Lewis Hamilton was only fourth while Bottas was further behind in sixth. Mercedes ended up nearly a second behind leader Raikkonen.
Renault was best of the rest as Nico Hulkenberg finished while Carlos Sainz was not much further behind in eighth. Sainz seems to have overcome the set-up issues he had been faced with on Friday whereas Hulkenberg was caught out by the final corner on a few occasions.
Toro Rosso driver Pierre Gasly put in another strong showing with a ninth-place finish, even despite not running Toro Rosso’s new aero package which was given to team-mate Brendon Hartley. The aero package seemed to help Hartley as he was able to manage an 11th place finish.
Fernando Alonso rounded out the top 10 while Romain Grosjean finished in 12th. Esteban Ocon just pipped team-mate, Sergio Perez, to finish in 13th and Dane Kevin Magnussen ended up in 15th.
Rounding out the field was the Alfa Romeo Sauber of Marcus Ericsson followed by Stoffel Vandoorne, Charles Leclerc and the two Williams of Sergey Sirotkin and Lance Stroll.
