Dani Pedrosa set the fastest time of the second three-day MotoGP test at the Buriram Circuit in Thailand, one of only three riders to lap under the 1m30s mark.
Pedrosa set a 1m 29.781s to make it a Honda whitewash of the Thai test, following LCR’s Cal Crutchlow and factory Honda team-mate Marc Marquez, who also set a sub 1m 30s lap, topping Friday and Saturday respectively.
Tech 3’s Johann Zarco joined the Spaniard as the only other rider to lap the 2.8 mile circuit under the 90-second mark on Sunday, posting a 1m 29.867s in the afternoon.
Jack Miller continued his impressive Sepang form, finishing in the top seven across all three days, highlighted by finishing third fastest on day two on his Ducati GP17.
Suzuki had a promising test as Alex Rins featured towards the top of the timesheets throughout the test, Rins coming within just 12 thousands of topping day one.
Takaaki Nakagami once again was the fastest rookie throughout the test just as he was in Malaysia, the Japanese rider impressing on his Honda by taking eighth on the final day, less than seven tenths away from Pedrosa’s leading time.
Hafizh Syahrin ended a positive first test for Tech 3 by ending in 21st position, just 1.7 seconds from the top spot. This was encouraging pace from the Malaysian who hopes to secure the satellite Yamaha for the rest of the year.
Syahrin was given the opportunity to test the Tech 3 Yamaha as an effective job interview to replace Jonas Folger, with a decision likely to be made imminently.
The factory Yamaha squad meanwhile had another difficult few days, both Valentino Rossi and Maverick Vinales pointing out the electronics of the Japanese machine as the main weak point to work on heading into the final test at Qatar.
Marginally better was the factory Ducati’s, 2017 championship runner-up Andrea Dovizioso keeping the GP18 in the top 10 across the three days.
Jorge Lorenzo meanwhile had a tougher time, ending the final day down in 22nd and struggling to find the confidence he had with the Desmosedici at Sepang.
